A Study on Certain Aspects Relating to Sex of Entertainment Workers in Certain Urban Area

Abstract
|
|
|
A survey on the problems relating to sex was conducted from August, 1st through September 15th 1969, toward 1,178 "entertainment" workers in Chong Ro Ku districts.
As the results of this survey, the following conclusions were obtained;
1) The largest proportions of the workers interviewed were observed among the group of 20~24 years with 39.1% in male and 48.4% in female.
2) Regarding the educational career, much variations were found according to the type of services in which the workers engaged and 52.0% of them had an educational background of primary school and lower and 4.1% was college graduate.
3) The average age of menarche was 14.2 years. The earliest age of menarche was 10 and the latest age was 19. Among 634 women respondents 82.0% have experienced menarche in the years of 14 to 16 of age. The first masturbation was experienced at an average age of 15.1.
4) The first knowledge on sex obtained from friends was the highest rate in 44.2%.
5) Regarding the frequency of masturbation in male, one time made up the highest rate and the next were 2 times and 3 times for weeks.
6) For the period of six months after the age of menarche, 42.0% of the respondents had normal menstruation and 58.0% had abnormal ones.
7) Regarding the maritial status of entertainer, the unmarried were 65.6% and the married were 34.4%.
8) The average age at first marriage was 24.2 years in male and 21.6 years in female.
9) Regarding the type of marriage, the highest rate with 58.8% (54.1% in male and 62.5% in female) were the matchmaking marriage and the next, 24.9%, were the free love marriage.
10) Regarding the present status of marriage, 71.1% were continning the marrital lives.
11) Regarding the sex experiences before marriage, 70.3% of the male and 62.1% of the female reported had such experiences.
12) The lower the educational career was, the higher the rate of sex expeyiences before marriage.13) The largest proportions of respondents was reported to have experienced sex at the age of 18~18 years.
14) Induced abortions were found to have been experienced by 12.2% in total and by 4.6% of those who were not married and by 28.1% of those who were married.
15) A half of total surveyed has been known the knowledge on venereal disease.
16) 8.7% of the males and 4.2% of the female had past history of venereal disease.
17) Most of the entertainment workers surveyed had been got the knowledge about the transmission of venereal disease.
